Zanaco beat Harare City and progress in Confederation Cup

Zanaco defeated Harare City 3 – 1 in the first round, second leg at Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday (20th March) to progress to the second round of the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup 5 – 2 on aggregate.
Honey Chimutimunzeve got the visitors back into the tie when he scored in the 10th minute but Ziyo Tembo equalized five minutes before the break following a corner.
Ziyo scored his second of the day from a corner delivered by Augustine Mulenga on 78 minutes and Dave Daka put the game beyond Harare City when he tapped home from close range from Aubrey Funga’s square pass.
Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba told fazfootball.com that he noticed that Harare City defenders lacked pace and used that to get back in the game.
“Well, I must say it was a tough match. Looking at the way Harare City played I think they came to get early goals and that is what they did; they got an early goal but we knew that they would get tired because my team had endurance. After the break we used speed to get goals because their defence was slow,” Numba said.
Numba’s team will now host Stade Gabesien of Tunisia during the weekend of 8th to 10th April before travelling to Tunisia for the second leg scheduled to take place between 19th and 20th April. Stade Gabesien edged AS Kaloum 2 – 1 on aggregate to set up a date with Zanaco.
“We have a good team that can rise to any occasion. Looking at the way we played in Harare, we have a team that can beat a Tunisian team,” said Numba when asked about his team’s prospects in the second round.
