Zesco loadshedding affecting water supply in Lusaka

The load shedding that ZESCO has embarked on in the country has affected water production in Lusaka, the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company has said.

Lusaka water Managing Director Jonathan Kampata says the company waits for another 2 or 3 hours after the four hour load shedding to start supplying water from Kafue to Lusaka.

Mr .Kampata says the loadshedding has also increased the cost of production in areas that are being supplied using boreholes as generators are being used to pump the water.

He told said Lusaka Water is currently working with the Ministry of Energy on the need to partner with the private sector to put up high solar grid and electricity power plants in order to reduce the cost of production from the 120 boreholes in Lusaka.
