Zesco United release Clifford Mulenga

MTN FAZ Super League champions Zesco United have released midfielder Clifford Mulenga following the former 2007 Young African footballer of the year’s unsuccessful three month stint with the club.
Mulenga, 28, joined Zesco United in August 2015 from Ajax Cape Town but remained a peripheral figure often coming off the substitute’s bench in the dying minutes of the game.
His appearance for Zesco United was the first for any club in the Zambian Super League having entirely played in South Africa with Pretoria University, Bidvest Wits, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bloemfontein Celtic and Supersport United.
“Following his three months assessment, the technical bench has not been impressed with his performance,” Zesco United Public Relations and Media Officer Chengo Katebe told fazfootball.com.
Katebe further stated that the club had not renewed the one year contract deal for Nigerian player Christopher Chogozie.
Additionally, Jonas Sakuwaha and Chishimba Changala had left the club to rejoin parent clubs TP Mazembe and Nkwazi respectively while Innocent Mwaba had made a permanent move to Forest Rangers.
Meanwhile, Katebe added that Zesco United were in talks with clubs for a possible loan deal for Tanzanian international Juma Ally Liuzio.
