Zambians have been urged to brace themselves for more load shedding following a further reduction in power generation at Kariba North Bank from 540 megawatts to 305 megawatts.
ZESCO has also regretted the high demand of power by consumers when power is restored after load shedding.
ZESCO head of Marketing and Public Relations Bessy Banda said Monday that power generation has been further reduced from 540 megawatts to 305 megawatts to avoid a complete shutdown of the Kariba hydro station.
Banda said the purpose of load shedding to save power was being defeated because there was high demand when power is restored.
‘It has been noted regrettably that when power is restored the demand is high hence the purpose of load shedding to save power is defeated,’ complained Banda.
