ZRA affected by constitution release

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) yesterday experienced a reduction in revenue collection because of the release of the new constitution by the Zambian Watchdog. A source from within the ZRA has disclosed that at the ZRA headquarters operations almost came to a stand still as most employees including senior managers spent time reading and printing the new constitution. The source said as a result of this ZRA could not meet its daily targets.
The source said most of the revenue collected yesterday was internet based.
“Revenue collection was affected yesterday because of the release of the new constitution. Every one was busy reading or printing the new constitution. Most of the taxes collected were internet based. You guys what you have done is patriotism of the highest order” the source said.
Yesterday the Zambian Watchdog unleashed the entire new constitution as handed over to President Michael Sata.
